CMSP Motorcyclist Training Course - MTC
CLASSROOM AND RIDING INSTRUCTION
The California Motorcyclist Training Course consists of a total of 15 hours of classroom and motorcycle riding sessions. For each course there will a total of two classroom sessions and two motorcycle riding sessions.
Training motorcycles are provided. Motorcycle helmets are also available to students. Scooters are also available upon prior request.
Cost for those under 21 years of age is: $180
Cost for those 21 years of age and over is: $258
Must be 15 1/2 years old and have either a Drivers License, a permit or a Gov issued photo ID
SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE
DMV Certificates will be given upon successful completion of the course.
CMSP Intermediate Riders Course (CMSP IRC)
The California Motorcyclist Safety Program Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) is the perfect next step for newer riders who are looking to improve their skills on their own bike as well as riders that have recently gotten back into riding after years off. This course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction. You will learn intermediate-level skills required to safely operate a full-sized motorcycle and understand the basic psychology of riding to help make better choices on the road. Topics covered include having a proper mental state, understanding two-wheeled vehicle dynamics, cornering strategies for multiple types of turns, emergency braking and evasive maneuvers. The mission of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program (CMSP) is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities through comprehensive educational and behavior-modification modalities.
We foster student learning through state-of-the-art, evidence-based curricula, which are rider-focused and value the student/educator relationship. We are committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, compassionate and encouraging atmosphere. All aspects of the training are optimized to accommodate individual learning styles and to promote a culture of safe riding.
The CMSP is dedicated to working with the community in developing safe, responsible, and courteous motorcyclists by nurturing in each of our students the skills, judgment and attitudes associated with a successful life-long riding career.
